Rob Witzel, known as both one of CIMG’s high school football announcers and as a local author, had some fun at the Danville Public Library late Thursday (Aug 7th) afternoon. He was holding a book signing for the latest children’s book in his SUPER PENGUIN series, a picture book called “Fly Like a Penguin.” Witzel said he was responding to requests to do a book that the younger children would like as much as the middle grade children enjoyed the first two in the series.
AUDIO: You know when I was out selling books at book festivals and stuff, I got a lot of feedback that younger readers were interested in Super Penguin; but everything was middle grade at that point, so I didn’t have anything for them. So, I listened to that feedback and I reworked a couple chapters from “Super Penguin 2” into our picture book “Fly Like a Penguin.”
Witzel says there is still key dialogue in “Fly Like a Penguin” that reminds young readers of an important lesson, be it from Super Penguin or from Paul Frost.
AUDIO: Not worrying about comparing yourself to others; and being different isn’t a bad thing. Being different can be your super power. Paul Frost is his alter-ego. (Now is he a penguin in his alter-ego?) Yep, it’s all an animal world. Kind of like Zootopia or KuFu Panda, it’s all animals doing human things.
