The Danville Area Visitors Bureau’s Tracey Fenton appeared recently with Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show; giving us a preview of some upcoming events.
A couple Saturday’s from now, August 22nd at 6:30 PM; it’s pure baseball showmanship and entertainment when the Chicago Snowballs and their traveling opponent the Rocket Squirrels come to Danville Stadium. As Fenton reminds us, this is Savanna Banana type interactive baseball entertainment.
AUDIO: I mean they have the stilts going, they have the dancing going, they have fire dancers with the baseball bats; it’s absolutely incredible. And check out their Facebook page, or event their website (https://www.chicagosnowballs.com/) to see the teams. It’s co-ed, so you’ve got girls on both the Rocket Squirrels and the Chicago Snowballs; and very acrobatic, gymnastic fun; actual great baseball to play. So it’s just a show to come out and enjoy.
And as we reported in a previous story, a new Walldog Mural is coming to Danville, emphasizing Vermilion County’s park areas. It will be done by Mike Meyer, the man known for the redone Chuckles and Evel Knievel mural on North Walnut, will doing this Walldog Mural in the modern way; piece-by-piece aluminum up on tracks on the wall. Fenton reminds us of the location right near Vermilion River Beer Company.
AUDIO: It’s a new way of doing murals. Instead of painting it on the wall; which is going to be the location of Pete’s VRBC Garden, Garden 107, it’s going to be on the gold wall, which is the building across from his, which is 111; but it’s going to go right up at the corner, not at the corner-corner but it’ll be eight feet up. But the way that they do things now, Tommy; they only do aluminum.

The unveiling of that new Walldog Mural is scheduled for Friday, September 4th at 6:30 PM.
And speaking of the Walldog Murals, Fenton reminded everyone that the Danville Area Visitors Bureau will be having a special trick-or-treat night, stopping at all 17 (by then) Walldog Murals, between 3 and 5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28th. More on that upcoming event will be available soon.
