A 16-year-old former Danville youth has been sentenced to eleven years in prison on armed robbery charges. Circuit Judge Nancy Fahey sentenced Jakari Webb after he entered a guilty plea to the February 2019 armed robbery of a Danville gas station.
Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy says Webb was one of two juveniles who entered the Circle K gas station on South Bowman Avenue in Danville. Webb was armed with a firearm and took cash and cigars from an employee. Lacy says Webb and the other juvenile then fled in a van being driven by a third juvenile. As the teens fled they were involved in a high-speed chase with Danville Police before the teens’ car crashed along Lee Road.
Lacy says all of the teens were ultimately apprehended and a handgun was recovered from the van in which they were traveling. Webb was originally being processed in juvenile court, but State’s Attorney Lacy requested the case be transferred to adult court and the request was approved.
