The location at 1001 East Voorhees in Danville once held the Head Start childhood location, which cut the ribbon in the spring of 2022. By January 1st of this year, Head Start was gone; and that’s where the Danville Christian Learning Center at 50 East Liberty Lane stepped in. Looking to add a not-for-profit childhood center to their commitment to the community, initiatives were taken; and as the Danville Christian Learning Center’s Tiara Taylor-Moore explains, things started falling into place.
AUDIO: We just went in and inquired, and one thing kind of led to another thing. And before you know it; we wind up getting the lease, receiving donations for the majority of our furnishings, and doors just begin to open. We also had a place in this building to house our thrift shop.
So the Amazing Grace Kids Thirft Shop is moving from 839 East Voorhees to the 101 E Voorhees location, and Taylor-Moore is now president of the Amazing Grace Early Childhood Center Board. She says the director will be Anna Harris, formerly of Head Start and currently training over at Danville Christian Learning Center.

AUDIO: Anytime we can get a new organization in that wants to help kids out, it’s always needed. There always kids out there that can use a place to either to go hang out, to go and get some clothes; or just to go to a safe area where they can just be.
For Danville’s Mayor Rickey Willams, Jr this is a great example of putting available space to good use.
AUDIO: I’m really thankful for the effort that they’re making. Obviously, we know that there’s a daycare shortage in Danville and Vermilion County. So the fact that they’re able to provide this awesome facility is exciting. They do so well at their other site, and we’re just thankful for them.
The Amazing Grace Early Childhood Center will now be getting the word out about who they are, and they plan to open on Monday, August 31st.
