NEWS-GAZETTE ARTICLE:
FITHIAN — The body of a woman who was apparently swept away by floodwaters after her car went into a ditch north of Fithian has been identified.
On Wednesday, Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden identified the body as that of Jaquincia Comage, 20, of Decatur.
Illinois State Police said troopers were called around 10 a.m. Tuesday for a report of an unoccupied vehicle belonging to a missing person near the intersection of Illinois 49 and County Road 2100 N, about 5 miles north of Fithian. On scene, they found the vehicle in a ditch with apparent water damage.
That prompted an extensive multi-agency search, resulting in the discovery of Ms. Comage’s body on a riverbank several miles away.
