DANVILLE — Second chances mean new beginnings, and that’s what’s happening with the former Danville Humane Society — now called Second Chance Animal Adoption Center.
Executive Director Sheilah Knight and Operations Coordinator Eilis Nicholson want the public to know the nonprofit center has undergone extensive renovations — with more to come — and is re-opening next week to serve the community and pet population in a safe and welcoming facility at 1225 N. Collett St.
They could use help, too, in the form of volunteers, donations and other support.
To kick off this new chapter, the public is invited to a grand reopening from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Guests will have an opportunity to explore the updated shelter, visit cats enjoying their upgraded “catio” and meet the team leading the organization into the future.
The celebration also will feature food trucks and pet-themed vendors. A percentage of vendor purchases will be donated to support the adoption center.
