THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL – On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Danville
Police responded to the area of the Memorial Bridge at 25 S. Gilbert Street after receiving a
report of an unresponsive individual at the bottom of the bridge.
Upon arrival, officers located a man lying near the riverbank, and medical personnel responded to the scene. The individual was identified as a 24-year-old man from Catlin, Illinois, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation has revealed no signs of foul play; however, the circumstances
surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The identity of the deceased is being
withheld pending notification by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.

Danville, IL- The Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has identified the gentleman who was found on the Vermilion River bank, below Memorial Bridge last evening, Saturday, September 19th, as 24-year-old Trevor A. Karuzis of Catlin.
Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden stated that Mr. Karuzis’ family has been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for this coming week. No other information is being released at this time. The Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
