At 6:30 AM Thursday (Oct 15), the new Danville Chick-fil-A opened its doors for the first time at the old Red Lobster location. The old building is long gone, the new Chick-fil-A building up and running, and Carlos’ family from Veedersburg, Indiana walked out with smiles on their faces right around 9:30.
AUDIO: We’re avid Chick-fil-A goers. It’s just nice to have one in Danville, close to home. Because a lot of people are living in rural areas; and you’d have to go to Champaign, or West Lafayette, or Terre Haute for Chick-fil-A. So it’s nice for it to be closer.

Outside in the breezy sunshine, Janelle Clark was helping bring out drive-thru orders. She mentioned that some of their first day customers, all different ages, were doing a little trick-or-treating with a familiar costume; the one that always says “eat more chicken.”
AUDIO: We had a line up starting at 5 o’clock this morning, and we have a lot of people dressed up like the cow. (I saw a little kid over there, about three. So is that a common thing, dress up like the cow?) Yes, so today, if you dress up like the cow you get a free chicken filet sandwich for a year.
3217 North Vermilion is the new Chick-fil-A’s location.
