ROSSVILLE — A Rossville residence was destroyed in a fire Friday morning.
Rossville Area Fire Protection District Chief Lloyd Smith said the call came in about midnight, and the single-family house in the 200 block of Attica Street was fully involved when crews arrived.
“It’s a full loss,” Smith said, adding that the residents got out of the home and weren’t injured.
The 30-year fire chief said the fire occurred during a time when the wind picked up to about 40 miles per hour, making “it hard to get stopped.”
Hoopeston’s fire department was called to render mutual aid.
Rossville had 14 of its 20 volunteer firefighters battling the blaze, while Hoopeston had about eight there, with two Rossville fire trucks and one from Hoopeston, Smith said.
