DANVILLE — Plans are moving forward to take a next step toward expanding the city’s public transportation facility or building a new one.
Danville Public Transportation Director Steve White said the city is planning to apply for a state grant and is determining which direction to go. The state’s call for projects have them due by the end of October, with the Danville City Council acting this week on applying for an Illinois Department of Transportation public transportation capital assistance grant.
“So, hopefully by the first of the year or March or so, we’ll have an answer and hopefully be able to get us a facility that will house everything that we need,” White said about office space, wash bay, maintenance and other areas.
The city recently announced to better serve the community, Danville Mass Transit and Rural Transit have a new website.
Riders can access real-time bus locations and estimated arrival times, review routes and schedules, check fare information and learn more about the Rider Code of Conduct and accommodations.
The website link: cityofdanville.org/379/Danville-Mass-Transit.
Danville Mass Transit also has a new app, and one is coming soon for the rural side.
