Downtown Danville’s traditional First Fridays November event, POTTERFEST, was in full swing Friday evening (Nov 6), and this time with an extra twist. Since the first Sunday in November had already passed, the clocks were already turned back, and it was dark from the get go. Danville Community Relations Administrator Rheanna Pierce said everyone certainly noticed, especially with all the great costumes.

AUDIO: (It) definitely adds to the vibe of it. And we’re glad, because we try to make everything glow and sparkle, and be super-magical. So, the spookiness of the darkness really helps out here.
The Vermilion County War Museum was involved once again, with the museum’s Larry Weatherford welcoming people right from the beginning.

AUDIO: They’re all looking for some item in the scavenger hunt. And a lot of people are starting here tonight. Later on, we’ll get some of the people that started way down at the other end of town. There’s 21 stops. We’ve had like stuffed monkeys and other animals in the past. We have two like snakes, Medusa and Arthur, with us tonight.
And holding the door for the War Museum, that Head Master of Hotwarts, Dumbledore.

AUDIO: (Do you relate to him? I think you’ve played this role before.) I have played it, yeah, I got a beard! (That’s a real beard there, isn’t it?) Yes it is, Sir!
And along Vermilion Street Downtown, CIMG ran into Bobbie and her daughter, and Troy and his family.

AUDIO: (Bobbie) This is the best time of year downtown in Danville. For her it’s like a second Halloween, so she loves it. (Troy) It’s awesome. Actually it’s a great fall atmosphere, and it’s perfect for this event. And it’s great to see Danville hosting something like this, and I hope it continues for many years.
POTTERFEST activities ran 5 to 8 PM for Danville’s November “First Fridays” event.
