Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has released the name of a man who died following a crash early today (Tuesday) along Interstate 74 in Piatt County. He says the victim is 62-year-old David W. Stockwill of Urbana who was pronounced dead at 6:17 a,m. at Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.
Illinois State Police say Stockwill was reportedly driving a motor vehicle westbound along Interstate 74 when it left the road for some unknown reason and crashed.
Troopers say the vehicle traveled several hundred yards after leaving the highway, then went through a fence and struck some small trees before coming to a rest in a field north of the interstate.
