The victim of a Saturday night armed robbery and shooting in Danville says the gunman was only about 16 to 18 years old. Danville Police were called to the area of the 100 block of North Beard Street for a reported shooting around 11:00 p.m. Saturday (June 6, 2020). When they arrived they found a 21-year old Danville woman who had been shot in the leg.
The woman told police she was walking along Beard Street when a black male approached and asked to borrow a lighter. The suspect then tried to take the woman’s phone. The victim said that when she refused to turn over her phone the gunman shot her in the leg. The victim was then robbed of her phone and other items.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening wound. The suspect was last seen fleeing from the area on foot.
