The Eastern Illinois Foodbank has announced plans for another drive-through distribution to get free food in our area. The event will occur Saturday, June 13th, 2020 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Carle’s location at 2300 North Vermilion Street.
Any Vermilion County family struggling with food insecurity is invited to participate. Those planning to attend should pre-register at www.EIFclient.com, although doing so does not guarantee a place in line.
In compliance with CDC guidelines, clients will remain in their vehicle and the boxes of food will be loaded into their vehicle by volunteers. Participants should clear a space in their trunk or back seat prior to arriving at the distribution site to help prevent contact. Saturday’s distribution is provided by support from Carle and Health Alliance. ‘’We recognize food insecurity is always an issue, and now, as need grows, it’s an even greater problem in our region,’’ said Pam Bigler, Senior Vice President of Clinical Partnerships and Programs at Carle.
Jim Hires, President & CEO of Eastern Illinois Foodbank, says the Carle and Health Alliance commitment to the well-being of those in the community is inspiring.
The distribution is part of the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, a program designed to keep workers in the food industry employed while proving people in need with access to food.
