A new report from the Indiana Department of Public Health shows there were 17 new deaths in the state from the COVID-19 coronavirus during the 24-hour period ending at midnight Friday.
There were also 432 new positive cases of COVID-19 found in Indiana during that one day period. Indiana now has 39,543 positive cases of COVID-19, and there have been 2,231 deaths in the state from it.
There have been 35 deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus in west-central Indiana since the numbers started being tracked early this year. Nineteen of those deaths occurred in Montgomery County, five in Tippecanoe County, and there have been two deaths in Fountain County this year from the virus. There have also been eight deaths in Vigo County and one in Warren County, Indiana.
There has been one death among the 43 positive cases from Vermilion County, Illinois.
