Danville City Council members have approved a request for a Special Use Permit for a proposed cannabis cultivation center. Alexander Real Properties, LLC is proposing opening the center on land located directly west of the Danville Correctional Center in the 3700 block of East Main Street.
The petitioner must still win approval for the center from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. It would not be a retail facility. Instead the cannabis that is grown in the small craft grower operation would be distributed to licensed dispensaries in Illinois.
City Council members were told discussions are continuing with McLane regarding possibly using an access road that is used by the company to avoid another curb-cut along East Main. The cannabis cultivation center is also still working on drainage plans.
Danville City Council members also approved a more than $960-thousand dollar contract with Midwest Asphalt Company for improvements along West Harrison Street, including the construction of a new parking lot.
