An investigation continues into a fire which destroyed a two-story home in Danville early today (June 18th, 2020). Fire Chief Don McMasters says the home at 16 Indiana Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Jason Tyler lives next door. He appreciates the unknown person who alerted him about the fire in the middle of the night….
{‘’I was awoke by a guy that was banging on my door. He said he seen the flames from a couple of streets away. And by the time I got up and got my dog out, and my shoes on, the whole house was already engulfed,’’ Tyler told VermilionCountyFirst.com News.}
The house that was destroyed was vacant. The blaze left considerable damage at Tyler’s home, too….
{‘’It’s pretty much cosmetic. Siding, my blinds melted on the inside, but nothing’s damaged on the inside of the house. Just siding, my roof and it’s just pretty much cosmetic,’’ said Tyler.}
There were no injuries. Although the cause of the fire remains under investigation Chief McMasters says it was likely incendiary.
