Danville Area Community College Trustees have approved a $1.6 million dollar contract to turn a former Carnegie Library into an arts center. DACC President Stephen Nacco describes what will be located in Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs Hall….
{‘’Our Art Department will be in the lower level, and moving from the Clock Tower Building. And the upper level will be a gallery – a place for musicians to perform, for acting, and also for display of student’s art – whether it’s on pedestals or it’s on the wall. When it’s completed it’s going to be a gorgeous gallery,’’ said President Nacco during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News.}
The work on Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs Hall will allow for more room for DACC’s Criminal Justice program and the expanding E-Sports program in the lower level of the Clock Tower Building. Commercial Builders of Champaign submitted the low bid of $1-million, 652-thousand dollars for the renovation of Jacobs Hall. A bequest from the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation is paying for the work.
Jacobs Hall is named after former Danville Area Community College President Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs.
