Drivers who travel Interstate 74 between Danville and Champaign-Urbana may want to allow a little extra time this week.
Starting on Tuesday, crews will begin making repairs to the pair of overpass bridges that carry I-74 over the railroad tracks east of St. Joseph. The roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and traffic will be controlled with drums and concrete barriers.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered.
Construction is expected to be finished by early November.
