After staying above 30 active coronavirus cases for the majority of last week, Vermilion County is now down to 18 active cases.
The Vermilion County Health Department announced Friday afternoon that 15 people were released from isolation. No new cases were announced Saturday afternoon.
Six more people were confirmed to have the virus on Friday: one resident in their 70’s, two residents in their 20’s and three grade-school-aged children.
State health officials announced Saturday afternoon that 1,276 more people have the virus and 18 more people have died. Friday’s totals were 1,384 new cases and 22 new deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 160,610 cases, including 7,290 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 46,099 specimens for a total of 2,212,398. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 11 – July 17 is 2.9%. As of Friday night, 1,360 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 326 patients were in the ICU and 119 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
