Danville District 118 officials are working on a question-and-answer sheet that will be released to the public on Thursday that will address any questions parents might have about the district’s reopening plan.
Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education John Hart told the school board Wednesday night the district’s preschool program will continue with the same classroom hours as before. He said the fact sheet is being typed up at the moment to be released.
Board President Bill Dobbles noted that the district’s reopening plans are completely contingent on the staff members, and if some teachers decide not to risk their health at school,
Superintendent Alicia Geddis said District 118 will have shortened school days, as the district is limited in how many bus drivers it can hire. She said staff members are focusing on extracurricular activities. Even though in-person activities might not happen, she says she hopes students can socialize virtually.
Geddis said the district will still be serving meals, and students could potentially take more breaks during the day. Among the activities she says students could participate is online games.
