The Indiana Department of Public Health says the number of Covid-19 coronavirus cases has been rising in that state. The Department continues to closely monitor the pandemic, and all Hoosiers are now required to wear a face mask inside public spaces. There are a number of exceptions to the new rule which took effect today (Monday, July 27, 2020).
The Department of Public Health also released new numbers showing the number of positive cases, deaths and people tested in counties across the state.
In west-central Indiana there have been 55 positive cases in Fountain County and two deaths since health officials started keeping track of the numbers earlier this spring. A total of 1,388 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Fountain County.
In Warren County, 19 people have tested positive for the virus and there has been one death from it since numbers started being tracked this spring. A total of 411 Warren County residents have been tested for the virus.
Other numbers in the new report show 56 positive cases have been found in Benton County with zero deaths and 801 people tested since early this year.
In Montgomery County, there have been 21 deaths and 319 positive cases since early this spring. Nearly 3700 residents have been tested in Montgomery County.
In Parke County, Indiana 38 positive cases of COVID-19 coronavirus have been found since early this year among the 1120 people who have been tested.
In Vigo County, Indiana there has been 9 deaths linked to the virus since early this year. A total of 374 people have tested positive among the more than 9200 who have been tested. (The county includes the Terre Haute area.)
In Vermillion County, Indiana 22 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since early spring and 1,075 have been tested.
And in Tippecanoe County, Indiana there have been 11 deaths linked to the virus since early this year and 979 people have tested positive for COVID-19. Nearly 18,700 people in the county have been tested for it.
The Indiana Department of Public Health said Monday that 41.6 percent of the intensive care beds in the state are in use…and 12.1 percent of those are being used for COVID-19 patients. Indiana still has more than 46-percent of beds in intensive care units available.
