A 27-year-old man from Paris was arrested Monday night in Indiana after leading police on a chase reaching triple digits.
Indiana State Police say a deputy witnessed Dalton Seafler driving more than 100 miles per hour shortly after 9:30 p.m. along State Route 63 southbound near U.S. Route 36. Seafler initially stopped, but then drove away, where deputies observed him driving more than 150 miles per hour. An officer caught up with Seafler’s vehicle at a stoplight, but he then drove off, eventually turning west into New Goshen.
Officers eventually caught up to Seafler after he drove over spike strips that had been placed on a roadway, which flattened his tires and brought the vehicle to a hault.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered that Seafler was in possession of marijuana and a syringe and was intoxicated.
He is being held in the Vermillion County Jail in Newport on charges of resisting law enforcement, intimidation, unlawful possession of a syringe and criminal recklessness.
