Haven Gaming has withdrawn its application for the proposed Danville casino, but plans to resubmit an application in the future.
Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. told Vermilion County First News that some details of the application, such as the partners involved, have changed, and so the company has decided to make changes and file a different proposal to the Illinois Gaming Board.
The gaming board was set to meet today for what was just its second meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Williams says he has asked representatives from Haven Gaming to present their updated casino application proposal to city council members during their virtual August 18 meeting, where it can be ratified for submission to the gaming board.
Haven Gaming earlier proposed a 53,500 square foot pre-engineered casino gambling floor in Danville that would form the core of the permanent casino and resort. It is proposed to be built along the south side of Interstate 74 at Lynch Road. Also included in phase one are a 200 seat buffet and trendy ‘Chicago style deli’, plus 1,100 spaces of surface parking. Construction of phase one is expected to take 9 to 18 months to complete.
Other improvements Haven Gaming plans to bring to Danville include a 150 room luxury boutique hotel, including fifteen suites – a 5,300 square foot sports betting arena, and a 15-thousand square foot convention center along with a corridor of celebrity restaurants and 1500 seat entertainment venue.
