If you have been wondering why Danville District 118 has not sent out a school supplies list with the upcoming school year scheduled to start three weeks from now, you’re not alone. Superintendent Alicia Geddis said she has received several questions about school supplies.
Parents should not worry, however, as Geddis said District 118 is providing school materials for students in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Geddis said she has partnered with Meijer and Walmart to provide school supply bags which will also include USB flash drives and Danville school-themed face masks. She said the supplies will be delivered to students before the start of the year.
School board members earlier voted to waive registration fees. Online registration has been extended through this Friday.
The first day of school for District 118 students is Tuesday, September 8th. Staff members will return the week prior.
Students in preschool through fourth grade will have a half-day of classroom learning with online activities as well. Students in fifth grade through high school will learn entirely online. Third and fourth graders from Liberty and Meade Park elementary schools will have their classes at South View Upper Elementary School.
