A family of five with three students who attend Salt Fork schools have all tested positive for COVID-19.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says students who came into close contact with the siblings on bus or in classrooms on either Thursday or Friday have been contacted and told to quarantine.
“We want to publicly thank all of the school officials who created and implemented procedures to keep their staff and students as safe as possible during these trying times,” Toole said. “Their foresight and actions help to keep problems from turning into nightmares.”
The county still has 20 active cases, all in isolation. 278 people have tested positive for the coronavirus overall since March.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced this afternoon that 1,893 more people have contracted the virus in Illinois and six more people have died, including a man in his 60’s from Iroquois County.
Illinois now has 220,178 total cases and 7,880 deaths. The week-long positivity rate has ticked down to 4.2 percent.
