Five new COVID-19 cases have been announced in Vermilion County.
Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases involve two people in their 70’s, one person in their 50’s, one person in their 30’s and one person in their 20’s.
Two of the new cases share a household and recently traveled out-of-state, and one case is connected to a prior case.
Locally, there are 27 active cases, with one person hospitalized. Vermilion County has seen 303 total cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,707 new cases and 24 deaths, none from the local area.
The state’s totals are 227,334 cases and 7,977 deaths. The seven-day positivity rate has increased slightly to 4.1 percent.
