As Ameren confirms plans to move its regional operating center to Tilton, plans remain to honor former Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer at the company’s existing location. It has been nearly two years since it was announced that Danville’s Public Works building would be named after Eisenhauer. Ameren shares the building along East Voorhees Street with the City of Danville but Ameren’s 15 year lease expires in April of 2022.
So far there are no signs on the Public Works building honoring former mayor Eisenhauer…but current mayor, Rickey Williams Junior, says plans were to honor Eisenhauer last spring. ‘’We had a sign made during the winter and were suppose to do a dedication in the spring, then COVID-19 came,’’ said Williams. ‘’We’re hoping the restrictions will ease further and we can do it this fall,’’ he added.
There are already two other buildings in Danville honoring former mayors. One is the David S. Palmer Arena and the other is the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building.

(This is the former Gaudio building where Ameren plans to move.)
Ameren has confirmed its intentions to move its regional operating center from the Voorhees Street location to the former Gaudio building on Georgetown Road in Tilton. But the company says the move likely will not occur until late next year or early 2022.
‘’We will continue to comply with the terms of the lease agreement for the Voorhees building, including our financial obligations in the current lease,’’ said Ameren spokeswoman Marceln Love.
Love says Ameren’s planned move to the former Gaudio building is based on several factors – including the current location on East Voorhees Street in Danville is short on space for employees, trucks, equipment and materials for both the city and Ameren.
