Students who attend Liberty Elementary School on Danville’s north side will be learning remotely the rest of the week.
District 118 Superintendent Alicia Geddis says an employee at the school exhibited symptoms of COVID-19. She says the risk to students is minimal, as staff members do not believe any students came into close contact with the employee.
Liberty Elementary will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with state and local health guidelines.
In-person learning for the 69 students who attend Liberty in-person will resume on Monday, September 21st.
Liberty is the second Vermilion County public school to close temporarily this week due to coronavirus cases. Westville’s Judith Giacoma Elementary School is shut down for two weeks due to students testing positive for the virus.
