The number of new COVID-19 cases in Vermilion County took a step in a positive direction Wednesday afternoon, with only four new cases being reported.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says one person each in their 50’s, 40’s, 30’s and 20’s tested positive. One case is from a family with other positive cases, and two of the new cases are work-related.
Currently, there are 93 active cases in Vermilion County and 475 total. Three people are hospitalized.
Statewide, 1,941 new cases were announced Wednesday afternoon along with 35 more deaths, including two elderly women from Coles County, which is in Region 6. The state’s totals are 266,151 cases and 8,367 deaths. The seven-day statewide positivity rate is 3.7 percent.
