The Vermilion Healthcare Foundation has donated $50,000 toward the United Way’s COVID Relief Fund to assist individuals and families with much-needed financial assistance.
“Our board was unanimous in wanting to respond to the challenging circumstances created by the pandemic,” said board chairwoman Linda Bolton. “This is truly a paradigm shift for us, as our normal procedure is to accept and evaluate grant applications from organizations across the community. However, it was felt that supporting the United Way in its relief efforts warranted a special grant.”
United Way is working with families who have lost jobs and have had reduced wages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vermilion Healthcare Foundation has given more than $8 million to local not-for-profits and $10 million to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center since its inception in 1987.
