Does it make more sense for Vermilion County to have a full-time administrator and a part-time County Board chairman? That question will be reviewed by a bipartisan committee consisting of some county board members and two prominent community members.
County Board Chairman Mike Marron (shown here) says the committee will be co-chaired by veteran board members Bruce Stark – Democrat from Danville, and Steve Fourez, a Republican from Jamaica. Also representing the County Board will be Robert Boyd, Democrat of Danville and Kevin Green, a Republican from Fithian. The two community members named to the panel are former County Board Chairman Todd Lee and businessman Mel Myers.
Recorder of Deeds Dave Stone will serve as an elected official liaison on the committee. He will be tasked with representing the interests of elected office holders and keeping them informed.
‘’The Vermilion County Board has committed itself to continuously evaluating how we operate, comparing ourselves with other counties relative in size, and to making sure we are applying the best management practices and procedures,’’ says Board Chairman Marron. He says in the spirit of those efforts a bipartisan appetite exists to look into possibly having a full-time professional administrator and part-time chairman.
It is expected that it will be a long process before the committee submits its recommendation to the Board’s Executive Committee.
