Danville Police confiscated over 130 grams of cannabis as they made three arrests Thursday evening. Police Commander Josh Webb says patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the area of East Main and McDonald streets and arrested one man. It was shortly thereafter, according to Commander Webb, that a second vehicle was stopped and the other two suspects were taken into custody. He says it is believed the two vehicles had been traveling together.
Police say the first vehicle they tried to stop started fleeing but then stopped following a short pursuit. The driver of that vehicle was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, obstructing justice, having no valid driver’s license and fleeing and eluding police.
The other two men were being held on preliminary charges of possession of controlled substances and possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver.
Commander Webb says police confiscated approximately 100 grams of cannabis from one of the vehicles and 33 grams of cannabis from the other. Names of the suspects were being withheld pending the filing of formal charges by the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, but Commander Webb says one of the suspects gave a Catlin address and the other two are from Danville.
