The long-awaited start of early voting is finally here in Illinois.
Early voting at both the Danville Election Commission and the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office begin Thursday morning.
Residents can vote between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and county residents can also vote from 9 a.m. until Noon on Saturday. Both offices are located in the Vermilion County Administration Building at 201 N. Vermilion St. in downtown Danville.
The county clerk’s office is located on the main floor, while the Danville Election Commission is located in the basement.
County Clerk Cathy Jenkins told WDAN’s Linda Bolton Tuesday morning that 2,700 voters have requested absentee ballots from her office, an increase from the usual 1,000.
Besides the federal races, some local races are of particular note:
- Incumbent State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy is being challenged by Democratic attorney Sandy Lawlyes.
- Incumbent Circuit Clerk Missy Quick faces Democrat Gwendolyn Meeks.
- State Rep. Mike Marron faces Cindy Cunningham in a rematch of the 2018 election.
Voters will also decide on the graduated income tax proposal in Illinois.
