The new ice system at David S. Palmer Arena should be ready to use around Thanksgiving, according to the arena’s manager.
Joe Dunagan told the arena’s board Wednesday night that ice-making system should be in place by November 16th, with the new ice having to sit between seven and 10 days afterward before it is ready to use.
Board member Tara Auter says Danville Youth Hockey participants can take part in camps once the ice is complete. She says the first day of the camps will be around the first week of December, and she hopes to be able to have games sometime in January, as the organization normally does. However, youth hockey games are dependent on the Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines.
Another effect of COVID-19 is that the arena will likely switch to bottled pop only at its concessions going forward.
