A Champaign man has been sentenced to nearly eleven and a half years in federal prison for a series of bank robberies, including one in Danville. Thirty-year-old Darryl S. Coleman was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Urbana.
The sentence was for robberies that occurred in October and November of 2015, including a hold-up at First Midwest Bank in Danville on November 17, 2015. Other robberies occurred at First Financial Bank in Champaign, First Bank in Rantoul, and the Farmers-Merchants National Bank in Paxton.
In June of 2016, Coleman was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for two bank robberies in northern Indiana. In addition to the prison sentence handed down Wednesday, Coleman was ordered to pay a total of nearly $21-thousand dollars in restitution.
