Eighteen new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Vermilion County.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Five people in their 70’s
- One person in their 60’s
- Two people in their 50’s
- Three people in their 40’s
- Two people in their 30’s
- Four people in their 20’s.
Seven of the new cases are family-related.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that the state has 1,362 new cases and 23 deaths. In Region 6, a Clark County woman in her 90’s, a Jasper County man in his 70’s and a Moultrie County man in his 70’s are among the dead.
Toole says the Vermilion County Health Department is seeing an uptick in cases among elderly people who are not residents of nursing homes. The county right now has 100 active cases, with nine people hospitalized.
