Vermilion County increased its number of active COVID-19 cases to 124 Wednesday afternoon as the Vermilion County Health Department reported 27 new cases.
Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases are:
- Two people in their 80’s
- One person in their 70’s
- Four people in their 40’s
- Seven people in their 30’s
- Three people in their 20’s
- One teenager
- Five school-aged children
- Four preschoolers.
Toole says 16 of the new cases are family-related. Eleven people are hospitalized while the rest are in isolation. Vermilion County’s positivity rate is 7.8 percent, while the rolling average for Region 6 dropped down to Monday’s mark of 7.1 percent.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says the state saw 2,273 new cases and 35 deaths on Wednesday. In Region 6, the deaths were a Champaign County woman in her 80’s, an Effingham County woman in her 70’s, two women in their 80’s and a woman in her 70’s from Fayette County, a Lawrence County man in his 70’s and a Macon County woman in her 70’s.
Illinois’ totals are 293,274 cases and 8,672 deaths.
