OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center and the Bobette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care Center are offering a new comprehensive breast health program in addition to a new breast health navigator.
The program is designed to be all encompassing by providing education, screening, testing, treatment and support.
To assist with screening and detection, OSF Sacred Heart offers 3D mammography, which results in higher detection rates of abnormalities and reduces the need for follow up imaging.
Jennifer Compton, Vice President of OSF Sacred Heart, told WDAN’s Linda Bolton on Thursday that the main goal of the program is to help women throughout their health journeys.
“The program really is just about making a woman comfortable through her journey as she chooses Sacred Heart to have her screening, to have any follow-up testing done, and we’re really excited to be able to offer this to the ladies of Vermilion County,” she says.
The breast health navigator is designed to be the single point of contact for the patient and family. Current patients can now self-schedule their 3D screening mammogram at their convenience through their OSF MyChart account.
