Vermilion County shattered its single-day COVID-19 case record Tuesday as the Vermilion County Health Department reported 79 new cases.
Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Six people in their 70’s
- Seven people in their 60’s
- 11 people in their 50’s
- 11 people in their 40’s
- Nine people in their 30’s
- Nine people in their 20’s
- 10 teenagers
- Nine grade-school-aged children
- Four preschoolers
- One toddler
- One infant.
Toole says 25 of the new cases are related family-wise or to prior positive cases. Eight Vermilion County residents are currently in the hospital with COVID-19. 914 people have tested positive so far.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,617 new cases statewide and 32 new deaths. Illinois’ totals are now 305,011 cases and 8,836 deaths. Region 6’s seven-day positivity rate decreased to 7.2 percent.
