Aqua Illinois Water Company says water flowing into Lake Vermilion was still rising as of 8:00 o’clock this morning (Wednesday, February 21, 2018). Aqua’s Danville Area Service Manager Bob Ervin said flows had not leveled off yet, so he says the company is continuing to open gates to match flows.
Ervin added the water company had recorded 4.9 inches of rain at its Water Plant in Danville over the past three days since the rain event started. The company’s water treatment facility is located at the south end of Lake Vermilion. It is where the official weather statistics are kept for Danville.
And Ervin says Aqua Illinois has been in contact with Danville’s Department of Public Safety to keep emergency responders aware of what is occurring. Ervin says the water turbidity or raw water condition is good at this point from a water treatment standpoint.
A flood warning remains in effect for Vermilion County (as of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018.)
