Several COVID-19 outbreaks in the central Illinois area mean the region is one step closer to having increased restrictions imposed on businesses and other entities.
Region 6 currently has a positivity rate of 7.7 percent. If that rises to or above eight percent for three consecutive days, then more restrictions including an indoor dining ban and lowered gathering limits would be imposed.
Outbreaks have occurred throughout the region in recent days. A total of 345 inmates and 38 staff at the Robinson Correctional Center have tested positive for the virus. Outbreaks have also occurred at a nursing home in Piper City and at an assisted living facility in Clinton.
