The Illinois Department of Public Health has adjusted its case totals for region 6, which includes Champaign-Urbana and Danville.
Director Ngozi Ezike says the state’s data will once again include case counts from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, but will not count the University of Illinois’ saliva testing as part of its statistics.
By just taking the U of I’s data out, Region 6’s positivity rate fell to 6.6 percent versus what would have been 8.2 percent excluding all of Champaign County. Champaign County still has by far the most tests performed in the region each day.
The Vermilion County Health Department reports 40 more COVID-19 cases locally. The new cases consist of:
- Two people in their 70’s
- Two people in their 60’s

- 12 people in their 30’s
- Four people in their 20’s
- Four teenagers
- One grade-school-aged child
- Two preschoolers
13 of the new cases are family related. Vermilion County has 232 active cases.
