One day after setting a single-day COVID-19 case record in Illinois, the state has broken it.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 4,554 new cases and 38 deaths Friday afternoon, increasing the state’s total number of cases to 336,174 and the death count to 9,165.
In Vermilion County, 40 new coronavirus cases were reported. Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases consist of:
- Three people in their 70’s
- Four people in their 60’s
- Four people in their 50’s
- Six people in their 40’s
- 10 people in their 30’s
- Three people in their 20’s
- Eight teenagers
- Two toddlers
1,251 total cases have been reported so far in Vermilion County. 264 are active. Nine residents are currently hospitalized.
