Wind-swept flames destroyed a historical grandstand area of the Vermillion County Indiana Fairgrounds last night. The flames lit the night sky as firefighters from several western Indiana departments attempted to bring them under control. The fairgrounds is located along Indiana route 63 at Cayuga.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. The blaze was in an area of the grandstands which are made out of wood, so the flames spread quickly. A preliminary estimate on the dollar loss from the damage was not immediately available. There were no reports of injuries.
