Half of Illinois’ 102 counties are considered to be at a warning level for COVID-19 outbreaks.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says nine counties in Region 6, including Vermilion County, are among 51 counties that have two or more risk factors for potential outbreaks.
Four of the state’s COVID-19 regions have had tighter restrictions imposed, and the northwest part of the state has already seen even tighter restrictions due to rising COVID-19 cases in that part of the state.
Region 6 currently has a seven-day positivity rate of 7.6 percent. Only 38 percent of the region’s hospital beds and 36 percent of ICU beds are currently available.
