The Danville area could be placed under increased mitigations from the Illinois Department of Public Health starting next week.
Region 6’s seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate reached 8.4 percent on Thursday, the second day the number has gone above eight percent. If it reaches eight percent for a third day, then increased restrictions will be placed on east central Illinois.
The first phase of mitigation measures include a ban on indoor dining and bar service, ending all bar and restaurant service after 11 p.m. and a reduction in gathering size capacity to 25 people or 25 percent of room capacity.
The Vermilion County Health Department reported 33 new COVID-19 cases Thursday afternoon, including six people in their 70’s, seven people in their 50’s and one toddler.
Currently, Vermilion County has 187 active coronavirus cases. 17 county residents are hospitalized with the virus.
Statewide, IDPH reported 6,363 new cases and 56 deaths yesterday. The seven-day statewide positivity rate is 6.9 percent.
