The Illinois Department of Public Health says Danville, Champaign-Urbana and other areas of Region 6, which makes up east central Illinois, will be under mitigation measures for COVID-19 that will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
Region 6 has seen a seven-day positivity rate of eight percent or higher for three consecutive days.
The restrictions include a ban on indoor bar and restaurant service and a complete closure of bar and restaurant service at 11 p.m., tables being placed six feet apart, and a reduction in large gathering capacity to 25 people or 25 percent of room capacity. Schools and polling places are unaffected by the restrictions.
Governor J.B. Pritzker’s administration continues to provide relief for small businesses impacted by the ongoing pandemic, distributing more than $32 million in emergency grants and assistance to Region 6 alone. Moving forward, businesses in Region 6, as well as other regions currently under additional mitigations, will receive priority consideration for the current round of the historic Business Interruption Grants (BIG) program. To date, through BIG, more than $42 million has been directed to regions currently under mitigations or where mitigations will soon take effect. These programs are guided by an equity framework and seek to address the hardest hit communities with emergency relief dollars.
