Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins says that candidates for local school boards can file their petitions at the county clerk’s office beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 14th.
Nominating petitions and other filing forms are currently available at the Vermilion County Clerk’s office. The filing period will end at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 21st. Candidates will be listed on the ballot depending on when they file their petitions, with the first candidates appearing first on the ballot. Anyone who files at the same time as another candidate will be included in a lottery to determine their position on the ballot.
Anyone interested in being a candidate should contact the county clerk’s office to find out how their school district elects board members and from which areas candidates may be elected.
All other candidates for positions on the April 6th ballot should file their petitions with their local election official.
More information can be found by contacting the county clerk’s office.
