One of the fans taking in the action at the NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament this week is paying particular attention to how things are going. He is DACC President Stephen Nacco, who has been anticipating his first national tournament for months.
Dr. Nacco says he envisioned it would be something special. ‘’It’s even more than I imagined. When you go through the community and you see the businesses that are all welcoming the teams, and you walk and meet teams, and players, and fans from – really – all over the country, this is a magical time in a town that’s very magical.’’
Dr. Nacco added this is not his first time for being around tournament basketball at the community college level. ‘’I’ve gone away to community colleges before for tournaments at two other places that hosted the New Jersey Division III,’’ said Nacco. ‘’And this is by far and away the most exciting and committed community to this I’ve ever seen.’’
Dr. Nacco was commenting during half-time of one of the games on Wednesday. He says he has enjoyed meeting the fans, players and coaches.
